While wrapping up the design for the adjacent Quinault Assisted Living Building, COVID hit and created havoc in the community. It became abundantly clear to the owner how important outdoor spaces were to the health of the residents.
A previously master planned courtyard area was designed and built to provide those much-needed outdoor spaces. The courtyard includes a large seating and gathering area with custom fire rock, meandering water feature with bridge, pergola and sitting area and a stunning landscape area surrounding the space and being enclosed on three sides by existing and new buildings. The landscape included rain gardens, helping reduce stormwater requirements and providing additional visual beauty to the space.
This project shows how important outdoor spaces are to senior communities and the wide range of benefits they provide to residents.
