Driven by a deep commitment to environmental stewardship, Zach brings a scientific approach to creating outdoor spaces that enhance human well-being. His roots in Eastern Washington, combined with years spent on both sides of the Cascades, give him unique insight into the diverse landscapes of our region. This understanding aligns perfectly with Lyon’s dedication to practical harmony between built and natural environments.
Zach’s Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Arizona and environmental science degree from The Evergreen State College form the foundation of his thoughtful approach to design. His hands-on experience in habitat restoration, landscaping, and plant nurseries enriches his design solutions, particularly in sustainable water management and native plant integration. This combination of academic knowledge and practical experience enables him to create enduring landscapes that serve both clients and the environment.
When not developing sustainable design solutions, Zach explores Tacoma by bicycle, immerses himself in books, and channels his creativity into personal projects that reflect his curiosity about the natural world.
